Meet Christina Emporia | Production Coordinator & Marketer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Christina Emporia, and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christina, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?

The entertainment industry needs a constant fuel of hunger and passion to move from project to project, to keep going after what you want, where you want to be. Sustaining this can be tiring.

EMALKAY BRINGS HIS REWORKED VISION BACK TO LOS ANGELES

Martin Knowles, better known by his stage name Emalkay, is an English dubstep producer and DJ from Birmingham. Known for hits like "When I Look At You" and "Graviton" the prolific DJ and producer has been a proper legend in the bass music scene since his debut album, Eclipse, in 2011. Recently, his new release "Reworked" has garnered some much deserved attention. Knowles is finally making his rounds back across the USA for his new DARK PLACES tour, and Station 1640 was his first stop, boasting an impressive supporting lineup featuring THELEM, LAIKA BEATS and LA residents DVNGEROUS and HULLABALOO. Our incredible underground bass culture here in Southern California rolled in the welcome wagon, greeting the legend back to Los Angeles as the headlining act for An Evening of Bass (a new series of bass shows at Station 1640 thrown by DJ/Producer Emporia and the popular up and coming party team, Flash Mob).

Meet Christina Emporia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Emporia.

Christina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.

I grew up in NY and went to college in Orlando, FL to Full Sail University. I took Film Production and Graduated with a Bachelors Degree.

I got into the music and event scene while living in Orlando. It was a big party town when I went to school there. My friends introduced me to Dubstep, which I had no clue what it was as first.

They brought me to my first Dubstep show at the Roxy Nightclub, which was a big hit at the time. That night Skrillex was performing and I got to meet him for the first time. After experiencing his show, I decided to go into the direction of Music and Events.

An Evening of Bass catches eyes & ears with quality music and zero gimmicks

Los Angeles is a funny place. All woks of life move throughout it and therefore just about every niche interest or hobby you can think of has been touched upon in some style of event, fundraiser, or activity. And as electronically produced dance music (aka “EDM” if you’ve been under a rock since 2008) has slowly but surely taken over the musical preference of over half the country, Night Clubs of ALL sizes have discovered that pretty much every night of the week is a competitive race to get people to come to THEIR party rather than someone else’s. For instance, LA’s most popular weekly dance event, Space Yacht, goes down every Tuesday Night and dishes up free pizza halfway through the party, and it almost always sells out. So because of this, many clubs have begun experimenting with fun new ways to draw a crowd, like offering free food, fun themes, or even offering free massages during the show (I’ve seen it).
